Barcelona, Spain (January 24, 2018) – Tech Data (Nasdaq: TECD) today announced that it has appointed Miriam Murphy as senior vice president, Advanced Solutions, Europe. In this role, Murphy holds regional responsibility for Tech Data’s Advanced Solutions go-to-market strategy, which includes products and services for datacenter and next-generation technologies such as cloud, internet of things, analytics, security and associated services. She also holds regional responsibility for the Maverick AV Solutions and Datech Solutions specialist solutions businesses. Murphy will report to Patrick Zammit, president, Europe, and serve as a member of the company’s European Executive Board.
Murphy joined Avnet Technology Solutions (“TS”) in 1999 and served in a number of senior roles there, including senior vice president, Enterprise Business Group, EMEA, and senior vice president, North Region, EMEA. She has most recently served as senior vice president, Benelux at Tech Data since the company’s acquisition of TS.
“I am delighted that Miriam has agreed to lead Tech Data’s Advanced Solutions portfolio in Europe,” said Zammit. “Her experience and deep knowledge make her a perfect fit for this role. I know that Miriam and her team will reinforce our company’s strong relationships with the industry’s leading vendors, while supporting the development of truly compelling advanced and next generation solutions for our expanding base of reseller partners.”
Commenting on her new role, Murphy said, “Tech Data’s Advanced Solutions team is the best in the industry, with deep knowledge, experience and a commitment to enabling partners to grow their businesses. This is a crucial time for enterprise technology as we are seeing the emergence of solutions that combine the best of the traditional datacenter with a range of next-generation technologies. Tech Data’s Advanced Solutions team across the region is well-positioned to act as a trusted advisor for partners who are looking to make the transition to emerging growth areas and new business models.”
Murphy will replace Graeme Watt, senior vice president, Advanced Solutions, Europe, who will leave Tech Data on January 31 to become CEO of UK technology reseller Softcat, a role he will take up at the beginning of April. Murphy’s former responsibilities as senior vice president, Benelux, will be assumed by Zammit until a replacement is named.
